Dad's 50th Birthday!
Dad turns 50, and I make a frantic 36-hour trip to be there...

Got up at 3am. Drove three hours to Providence. Got on three-hour plane to Chicago. One-and-a-half hour layover. Got on four-hour plane ride to Los Angeles. 45-minute layover. Got on one-hour flight to Bakersfield. Drove self to Visalia, over an hour away. Rested a half-hour. Went to Dad's surprise 50th birthday party. Slept six hours. Now do the whole thing again... backwards.

It was a frantic 36-hour trip from Connecticut to California and back, but it was worth it! Dad's party was great. Dad walked in to a dark room-full of about 50 people, and... SURPRISE!  My sister Amber and I hid, at first. After a few minutes of greeting his guests, Amber and I called him on his cell phone. (And was he surprised when the two of us walked into the party while he was on his phone, talking to us!)
